Explore Fagaras Mountain - Day trekking tour
We heartily invite you to join us in discovering the beauty of the “Transylvanian Alps”, situated close to the middle of the country, which are also part of the Southern Carpathians. Fagaras Mountains are the highest, largest and wildest mountains in Romania. While exploring them, tourists will marvel at their spectacular landscapes and will make considerable efforts to overcome their difficult trails.
From a bird’s eye view, Fagaras Mountains are shaped like a main, high and uninterrupted ridge of 70 km long that is oriented from East to West, with several secondary ridges coming out of it towards North and South. This main ridge looks like a chain of sharp and imposing peaks over 2,400 – 2,500 m, in the central area, decreasing towards extremities where heights are smoother and reaching approximately 2,000 m. Secondary ridges are more numerous towards North where they are parallel and towered and of approximately 4 to 10 km long, while the ones towards South are forked, and smoother and approximately 30 km long.
The highest elevations in Romania are in Fagaras Mountains: Moldoveanu 2,544 m, Negoiu 2,536 m, Vistea Mare 2,527 m. Fagaras Mountains stretch across app. 3,000 sqm and are covered with broadleaf, coniferous or mixt forests and alpine and mountain grass lands. Tourists will have the opportunity to discover the local mammals and birds and also a wide variety of hiking and climbing trails, which we invite you all to explore along with us. The trails will be chosen to match the tourists’ physical fitness and technical abilities.
